Scams do not get more sophisticated, they just get repackaged. Recognise the shape and the specific wording stops mattering.
Pattern one: urgency
You are told the offer expires, that they are logging off, or that someone else is waiting. Urgency exists to stop you checking the values. Any offer that is good now is still good in five minutes.
Pattern two: authority
Someone claims to be a moderator, a known trader or a site owner. Names and profile pictures are trivially copied. Verify through the community you already trust, never through the account contacting you.
Pattern three: the small ask
They only want something minor first — an entry fee, a “verification” item, a tiny deposit. The size is deliberate: it lowers your guard and it is all they ever intended to take.
Pattern four: the outside link
Any link that asks for a game login is phishing, without exception. Trading happens in game, not on a website.
